- In Korea, Lieutenant Benson's platoon finds itself isolated in enemy-held territory after a retreat. Soon they are joined by Sergeant Montana, whose overriding concern is caring for his catatonic colonel. Benson and Montana can't stand each other, but together they must get the survivors to Hill 465, where they hope the division is waiting
- Lieutenant Benson and Sergeant Montana are two soldiers trying to deal with the shock and devastation of war. Montana has been ordered to escort a colonel suffering from extreme battle fatigue to a field hospital for treatment. Meanwhile Benson's loyalty lies with his platoon and his mission to overtake a hill occupied by the enemy
