- 1879, L'Islet. Après la mort de sa mère, le jeune Roméo Marion a dû assurer la subsistance de ses soeurs ainsi que de son père, qui a sombré dans l'alcoolisme. Le jour de ses vingt et un ans, Roméo prend la décision de quitter sa famille et de partir sur la route à la recherche d'une vie meilleure. Dans les années qui suivent, il sillonne le Québec entre La Pocatière et Montréal, d'un village à l'autre, offrant ses services aux gens. Il connaît l'amour, des amitiés marquantes, et tente même, lui un simple menuisier, de gagner sa vie comme sculpteur, une passion qui l'habite de plus en plus. (...) [BTLF]
